The owners name is Miguel and Liza
Mateos. They
are great folks who live on-site and
have several properties they manage as
well as owing a great restaurant in
Puerto Morelos.
The property we rented from Liza is
the Boat Villa, which is the center
villa in the 3 unit complex. It is very
private even though there are 3
properties together. We rented from
Liza two different times
once at Villa Karina
and will use her again, when we
have the chance to go again.
The property is fairly secluded.
It is located about 25 minutes from
Cancun…about 5 minutes from Puerto
Morelos and about 15 minutes from Playa
Del Carmen. My husband, children,
in-laws and I really enjoy the location
because we like the privacy of staying
“off-resort”. The entrance is a gated,
attended entrance and there is no
through traffic. The property is well
maintained, with a lot of the amenities
of home ie satellite tv(English), dvd
player, fully equipped kitchen, water
purification system, bottled drinking
water, plenty of hot water for bathing.
I really enjoyed the convenience of
having cancun valet meet us at the
airport, load up all our belongings then
take us to the villa. When you arrive
at the villa, the van you can rent from
Liza is right there, ready to go. It is
much less expensive than working through
a rental agency at the airport and if
you are not familiar with the area it is
nice to just get there, relax, get your
bearings and then explore the next day.
When you are ready to return home,
cancun valet comes back for your return
to airport…just leave the van there at
the villa.
We usually get Liza and Miguel to
have dinner for us the first night, much
more relaxing after a long day of
travel. Then the next day it is an easy
trip into Playa Del Carmen to go to
Wal-Mart for groceries. There is a
small market in Puerto Morelos also.
A couple of our favorites for
eating out are…Hola Asia in Puerto
Morelos, Lizas’ restaurant. GREAT
Chinese food, sit upstairs for the best
view. We also enjoy Posada Amor for
Sunday Brunch. There is a little
grandma lady that grills the BEST
chicken over an open grill, Juanitas I
think, looks a little primitive but is
wonderful and quite affordable. Another
very authentic place in PM is La
Loncheria Economica, homemade,
authentic, fresh, budget minded
lunches. The ice cream store on the
square in PM is also a treat. Not a
huge selection but what they do offer is
wonderful.
We did enjoy having Liza's husband,
Miguel, cook for us. It may seem a bit
“over the top” but once you try it,
you’ll want to do it several more
meals. The servings are very generous,
the food is delicious and there are
leftovers for midnight snacking.
As you may have realized by now, we
have enjoyed our visits very much and
look forward to returning soon. We like
to location because you get the
beautiful beaches without all the
touristy hassle of the cities. We have
always felt very safe and secure there.
The shell hunting is wonderful.
If you decide to stay at Secret
Beach you will have a wonderful, safe
time.

I can't tell you
how much we enjoyed our stay at the
Shell villa! We were a little nervous
about booking on the internet and what
we would really find, but were shocked
at how truly beautiful and truthfully
represented the villa and beach were. We
are planning another trip in a couple of
years and will definately book the villa
again. We keep saying that it was the
most relaxing and amazing trip we have
all ever had! Between all the couples we
have traveled the world so that is
saying alot. Miguel and Beno are amazing
cooks-highly recommend the breakfast and
dinners. Also Hola Asia is a must for
eating out. Thank you Liza and Miguel
for a wonderful time! |

We have stayed @
the Secret Beach Villas 3 times now. The
most recent was our largest group visit.
The beach was still gorgeous. The villas
were still beautiful. The staff were
still industrious and friendly. Liza and
Miguel were still hospitable and
amazing. Life is too short and family
time too precious to take a bad
vacation.
You will not regret your decision to
visit Secret Beach Villas on our beloved
Playa del Secreto. |

We had a great
time. The Corona flowed freely, the
conversations were inspired, the kids
marvelled at the tide pools, explored
the beach, swam and surfed on the boogie
boards and caught amazing tropical fish.
The accomodations were posh. All in all,
a wonderful vacation. |

This was a
beautiful house and the location was
quiet and beautiful. The beach was
clean, the water very safe and calm with
a small reef for snorkely with lots of
fish. The house was spacious, great
bedrooms and baths with wonderful
linens. The kitchen had plenty of dishes
but lacked condiments other than pepper
and salt and what we left. 20 minutes
walk from town. We were there in the off
season and enjoyed perfect weather,
peace and quiet. I highly recommend this
time of year. The shells you see the
little boy finding were planted by
doting grandparents. He was so looking
forward to shelling and I knew from
previous visits that there were no
shells on these beaches due to the reef.
So, every morning, grandpa or I planted
shells. He was thrilled. Feel free to
EMail me if you have questions. Liza and
Miquel did a great job and please order
in some meals. They were fantastic,
reasonable and you had enough leftovers
for a couple of meals. Maria |

We booked Shell
Villa for two weeks - the first week my
son and daughter-in-law and my grandson
and his wife were with me. We had a
great time. Everyone wants to come back
again.
The second week my good friend joined me
with her daughter, Tami. Tami just
finished her MSN and will be entering
grad school this fall so this trip was a
present from her mother. We had a great
time and can't wait to get back. Hope
the hurricanes leave this beautiful
place alone. |

My husband and I
have travelled several times to Playa
del Carmen area, but had always stayed
at resorts. We dicided to try something
different this time and were thrilled
with everything. It was even better than
we imagined. The villa was beautiful,
the view and amenities spectacular and
the staff so helpful and kind. We loved
the convenience of on-site car rental.
The kitchen was well stocked with pots,
pans, etc. for all of the cooking we
did. Everyone in our group had a
wonderful, relaxing vaction. It was
absolutely magnificent! |

We come to the
Cancun/Playa del Carmen area of Mexico
every October for two weeks and have
always stayed in timeshares and wanted
to try something new. I loved it! We
stayed in the Fish Villa 2004 and our friends
in the Shell. The Villas were comfy,
roomy and were exactly as described.
They had many beach items for the kids.
They loved the paddle boats and had a
blast. Our girls did thier morning
workouts in the beautiful ocean and
boogie boarded the day away. We left
just before Hurricane Wilma and we hope
you, your staff and the Villas weathered
the storm as best as you could. We look
forward to returning in the future, and
will pass along our little "secret"
called Secret Beach Villas!!!

Hola: My name is
Kori I am from windsor, ontario, Canada.
My family & I went to Playa del Secreto
this year for our family vacation. We
stayed at Best Beach Villas in the fish
villa. The villa itself was amazing. It
was, beautiful, very spacious, &
spotless. We had 6 people in our party &
we could never tell there was that many
in this villa at one time. There was
more than enough room for everyone. The
perfect spot for a nice quiet vacation.
The beach itself was beautiful. The view
was amazing, the sunset even better. The
beach is clean & the waves are perfect
for bodyboarding.
We did get a chance to go to there
restaurant. The food was terrific. The
atmosphere was warm & welcoming.
The hospitality was more than you could
ever ask for. Liza & Miguel truely are
increadible people. They made us feel so
comfortable & welcome. Truely a home
away from home.
We ended up getting caught in hurricane
Wilma. Liza & Miguel showed us how
truely amazing people they are. When we
found out Wilma was coming our way, they
both sprang into action & did what they
needed to do to make us as comfortable &
safe as they could. They moved us away
from the ocean & to a safe place to stay
for the duration of our vacation, until
we could leave Mexico. Liza was so upset
that our vacation was ruined, but to
tell you the truth going through such a
horrible experience with such wonderful
people didn't make it seem so bad. It
must of been the wonderful company they
were for us.
If you want a nice quiet relaxing
vacation this is the place to go.

This is heaven on
earth! We love these villas so much we
have returned many times and have had
the great pleasure to stay in each
villa. The villas are beautifully
decorated with many specail touches. The
staff is friendly and goes out of their
way to help you. It is a true and very
affordable luxury to have a cook right
on the premises. They have printed
menu's or you can request special
dishes. I take many groups on incentive
trips which a ffords me the opportunity
to travel all over the world. By far
these villas and setting are my very
favorite! We look forward to returning
for another stay. Thank you Liza and
Miguel for creating such a classy
relaxing retreat. We love it!

Cheryl and I,
along with our daughter and son-in-law
and two grandsons enjoyed eight days at
Villa Karina. In spite of the
devastation suffered in the area,
Miquel,Lisa and George did everything
possible to make our stay memorable and
pleasant. Villa Karina suffered some
damage, but most was repaired when we
arrived and we were able to enjoy our
days of relaxation and sunning.
the people of Puerto Morales were
helpful, kind, pleasant and extremely
welcoming. We witnessed the citizens
hard at work in their effort to restore
the buildings to their former beauty and
service.
We have begun planning our return. Thank
you for being such great hosts in the
midst of the country's struggle to
revitalize what mother nature destroyed. |

You are always
somewhat leery of booking something from
the internet. When we arrived we could
not believe it! It was nicer than the
pictures. The pictures do not do it
justice! In a word! BEAUTIFUL! Miguel
and Liza and the staff were tremendous
hosts. I would not hesitated to go back
there again and can't wait for my next
visit. The food was also wonderful and
plentiful. We did not arrive until late
the first night but everything was
waiting for us upon our arrival. The
grounds were nice and clean and the
beach was extra nice. I am whole
heartedly giving them my highest marks
for excellence and a glowing
endorsement! I'll be back again! |

My wife, sister
and her husband, my brother and his wife
and myslef stayed in the Shell Villa in
2004. We had the most spectacular time.
I have been to Mexico three times and
this was by far the best.
The area is secluded but you are close
to anything that you would want too do.
The home was beautiful, comfortable and
very clean. Liza and Miguel do a
wondeful job with the property and are
always willing to assist with plans. The
pool was cleaned daily. This shows you
the pride that Liza and Miguel have.
The beach is stunning and clean. The
waves were very manageable and the water
warm.
We hope to go back to Mexico the fall of
2007 for a week and this will be the
only place we stay from now on. |

I am finally catching up with everything
after getting back and just wanted to
tell you what a nice time we had at the
Villa. You have done a wonderful job
making it a terrific get-away. We loved
all of the food, it was delicious and
HUGE portions. Thanks so much for
offering that service. Javier was so
helpful, and the unit was spotless! The
location is amazing, we had a wonderful
time looking for shells. It was so hard
to return to the cold weather here. We
will certainly never forget this
vacation.
I have already told many people about

Thank you so much for the fabulous stay
at your beautiful villa! I cannot
express how much we enjoyed ourselves
and how much the Secret Beach touches
our hearts. It is the one place on
earth that I feel I must return to again
and again. We will most definitely be
back!
Where to start on a review of your
villa? The house itself it just
wonderful - we found ourselves
marveling at the architecture everyday.
There was plenty of room for everybody
to be together and yet never feel
crowded. The furnishings are far above
the standard furnishings customarily
found in rental villas. We loved the
soft sheets and fluffy towels, the
comfortable sofas and beds and the
kitchen had every amenity we could
possibly hope for. With our group the
washer and dryer were a definite plus.
The on-site car rental was a very nice
touch as well. It was a comforting
feeling to know that if anything went
wrong with the car you would be there to
help.
There is simply no description for the
view and the water outside our doors and
windows. We spent many hours just
drinking in that sight not mention
listening to the surf.
We found ourselves heading into town for
dinner almost every night after relaxing
at the villa all day. We had several
wonderful meals at your place in Puerto
Morales. The location of the villa
makes it a perfect home base for
visiting the areas attractions as well.
We went to the ruins at Coba, the beach
at Tulum, into Playa several times to
enjoy its restaurants and shopping -
all in all, there is simply nothing
negative we could say about the villa.
The Secret Beach is a place to refill
your soul. Your staff was wonderful as
well. Thank you for taking such good
care of us! |

Liza--
We want
to thank you, Miguel, Javier, and the
rest of your wonderful staff. We loved
the villa and the beautiful Caribbean
right outside our doors and windows.
The villa was luxurious, and the meals
prepared by Miguel and his staff were
excellent. Of course, we learned the
hard way about the Cancun policia
although having a car was so helpful.
(We wondered about the plates on the
van: Do they cause police to take
advantage of Americans?) Anyway, we
love Mexico and plan to return with
friends. I will say you did not
exaggerate the wonderful food. We also
enjoyed Hola Asia (spelling?), the
village of Puerto Morelos, and
snorkeling. You might also like to
refer people to Lubna's in Cancun for
food. They do a great presentation and
very wonderful and unique food, not
expensive. Two of our sons work in
restaurants (One was a sous-chef in
Seattle), and they recommend Miguel's at
the villa, Hola Asia, and Lubna's, as
well as The Old Fisherman (can't spell
its Spanish
name) and
breakfast at the American-owned bakery
in Puerto Morelos.
Again, thanks.
I want to do this again very soon. This
vacation for the most part was something
people pick from an upscale travel
brochure. |
